Cross Functional
A team with a mix of individuals with different specialisations, working towards a common goal.
A cross functional team consists of people from the different functional units of a company who work towards a common goal. The different functional units have existed independently and work the same way. Now while they do the work their own ways, they share a common goal- the overall company’s goal. Hence grouping individuals who specialise in their own domains helps coordinate and communicate effectively between the different units.
This gets work done quicker and more efficiently and helps everyone understand their role in achieving the goal. In instances of problem solving, cross functional team discussion can be very helpful with each one coming up with their viewpoints and input as they approach it from their own field. This can yield many alternative options and well educated decisions.
