Awareness of the present at every moment is mindfulness. A lot of the time, our mind is stuck in the past, dwelling on a mistake made or things that should’ve been said or things that could’ve been done. Other times we are worries of the future, about what might happen, anticipating or overthinking. Sometimes just daydreaming or fantasising. All of this keeps our mind occupied on things other than working, reducing productivity. That’s why focusing on the present, on the work at hand helps increase efficiency and helps complete the task in less time. Mindfulness can be achieved by training the mind to concentrate on the present, being aware and absorbing everything that’s being currently experienced and finally bringing yourself back once you are aware of drifting into thoughts.
